  •  All questions about Electronic Cigarettes, e liquids and refills answered by VIP electronic cigarette Ireland
    1. Is the VIP E Cigarette suitable for vegetarians?

Yes. The VIP E Cig main ingredients are; Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Gylcerine, Nicotine and Flavourings, and is therefore suitable for vegetarians.

    2. Which VIP E Cig should I buy to get started?

Any one of our E Cigarette kits, which are designed to be simple and user-friendly, are ideal for first time users. You have everything you need to get started and enjoy the experience of vaping. Your E cigarette starter kit contains a battery, USB charger and two e cig refills. For those customers looking for a premuim E liquid tank model then look no further than our Photon Express e cig Tank Kit. The Photon Express kits are perfect for first time E Liquid users. So for a vaping experience that can not be matched, make VIP your brand of choice.

    3. Which should I choose - Photon Tank or E Cigarette?

It's a personal choice, but we can provide you with our experience to help you decide.

For the first time user we believe the VIP E Cig with Cartomizers is more practical. It's a simple, no nonsense electronic cigarette which requires virtually no maintenance aside from replacing refills and parts that have worn out. The VIP E Cigarette is very cost-effective compared to smoking and we also provide regular discount codes and daily deals for even better customer savings. We would recommend using the VIP E Cig Cartomizer model for a minimum of 2 to 3 months before considering upgrading to the Photon Tank. This will give you time to adapt to vaping and have an understanding of personal usage.

Ready to move to the Photon Tank?

    • Are you an existing e cigarette user?
    • Have you used the VIP E Cig for 2 to 3 months?
    • Do you plan on being a long-term vaper?
    • Are you confident to use and refill with e liquid?

If you've answered 'yes' to most of the above questions consider trying the Photon Tank model

    4. How can I get a stronger nicotine hit?

First of all, make sure that you are using the correct strength of filter. The Strong 24mg (2.4% per ml) is our most popular nicotine strength.

Taking quick puffs will be less effective and nicotine will not readily absorb. Each inhale should be slow, steady and last for a minimum of 2 seconds. Hold the vapour back for a couple of seconds before slowly exhaling. Taking a longer inhale of around 5 to 6 seconds will help deliver a stronger nicotine hit.

    5. Is there are danger of passive smoke?

No. There is no physical smoke with the VIP E-Cig which means there is no passive or second-hand smoke dangers when using our e-cigarette.

    6. Can I use the VIP E Cigarette to quit smoking?

This is a very common question and the official answer is 'NO' because electronic cigarettes are not 'smoking cessation' devices or licenced pharmaceutical products. We market the VIP E Cig as a 'smoking alternative'. However, you can use your VIP E Cigarette for any reason you choose providing you are of legal age.

A recent survey of our customers showed us that approx 85% have not smoked in a year or longer because of using our e cigarettes.

    7. How do I 'smoke' the VIP E Cigarette?

'Smoking' the VIP E Cig is really called 'vaping' as there is no physical smoke only vapour. We suggest you follow these simple techniques:

    • Avoid drawing too hard or too fast, as this will limit vapour flow and nicotine delivery
    • Take light, slow, steady puffs for optimal results
    • Inhaling the vapour into your lungs provides a deeper nicotine throat hit, where holding the vapour in your mouth like a cigar, will enhance the taste
    • Holding the vapour back for a minimum of 2 to 3 seconds allows the nicotine and flavours to absorb
    • Taking 7 puffs, each lasting 2 to 3 seconds is classed as having 1 normal cigarette
    • Inhaling steadily for 4 to 5 seconds will deliver an even stronger hit

    8. How do I store the VIP E Cigarette?

Keep out of reach of children and pets for reasons of safety.

The battery should be stored in the VIP box provided or in the optional hard case, away from sources of heat and direct sunlight when not in use. If you are not a regular user or only plan on using the VIP E Cig occasionally then always make sure you charge the battery fully before storing. The battery should always be recharged when depleted.

Cartomizer refills are not intended to be stored for a prolonged period of time in a domestic environment and are best consumed within one month of purchasing. Refills should be stored out of direct sunlight and away from sources of heat and humidity, preferably in a cool, dark cupboard or drawer. Refills are sealed with an outer wrapper to preserve their freshness, but refill contents will start to degrade and evaporate in a domestic environment.

VIP have special storage facilities to preserve the integrity of ingredients. Consumable products are only transferred to our central distribution centre when new stock is required. Our storage and production process assures only goods in peak condition are received by customers.

    9. How do I know when the Cartomizer needs changing?

There are a number of signals that indicate the Cartomizer needs to be changed. The volume of vapour will decrease or some vapour will still be visible, but the flavour may start to taste slightly bitter.

Before you change the refill it's a good idea to check that the battery has sufficient power. Always make sure your battery is in perfect working order. An undercharged, damaged or old battery will not vaporise the refill ingredients efficiently which can lead to loss of vapour and the need to replace Cartomizers more frequently.

    10. Which Clearomizer is best for your Photon Battery?

Photon Tank Battery – This product is best used with the V5/CE5 clearomizers same as the ones you get in the Photon Tank kit. Aspire Range: H2-BDC, H2 Airflow or ETS clearomizers are compatible with Photon range however they will waste the battery much quicker. The battery has an optimal life span of about 4 months and when fully charged should last you 24 hours, depending on use.

VV Tank Battery – The VV battery is for a more personalised vape. You can twist the dial at the bottom to get to the perfect Voltage setting for your taste. The clearomizers to use with this battery are the Aspire Range: H2-BDC, H2 Airflow or ETS. V5/CE5 would not be suitable as the battery is too powerful. The VV battery optimal lifespan is approx 4 months and when fully charged should last you 24 hours, depending on usage.

SKYSTORM AM30 Device – The skystorm is an advanced vaping device that perfects your vape according to your taste. You have the freedom to set your own voltage/wattage. The clearomizers that are compatible with this product are the Aspire range: H2-BDC and ETS. V5/CE5 would not be suitable as the battery is too powerful. The AM30 Device, when fully charged, will last between 2-3 days and lifespan is approximately one year.

    11. Is nicotine harmful?
    • Nicotine is not a known carcinogenic and links to health issues are mostly inconclusive, but it is addictive. In excessive quantities it is classed as a poison, which is why toxic labeling is required. VIP E Cig nicotine levels are well below the legally permissible limit.

Despite the potential hazards of nicotine itself, the MHRA describes it as 'a very safe drug'. Used in moderation, nicotine has been compared to be no more harmful than caffeine.

    12. How do I know if I am overusing my E Cigarette?

With a normal cigarette, an average smoker only tends to take several proper puffs while the rest of the cigarette burns away. Unlike a real tobacco cigarette the VIP E Cig does not burn down when not in use.

We recommend limiting the number of inhales to 7 per session with each inhale lasting 2 to 3 seconds. We class this as having 1 cigarette. The best way to make the most of the VIP E Cig is to use it at the times when you would have a tobacco cigarette. If you usually smoke a cigarette every hour, then only use the VIP E Cig once per hour.

The VIP E Cig is convenient which makes it very easy to take extra puffs without even noticing. A clear indication that you are overusing the VIP E Cig is if you need to recharge batteries frequently and are using too many Cartomizers.

    13. What is the Photon Tank?

The Photon 'tank' model is a high-end Personal Vapouriser. This type of device is refilled with e liquid, as opposed to our regular electronic cigarette where you just screw on a pre-filled Cartomizer each time it needs replacing.

This model is designed NOT to look like a cigarette and enables users to distance themselves away from any aspect of 'smoking'. The Photon Tank works out even cheaper than using traditional Cartomizer refills.

The Photon battery life is considerably extended with a chargelife lasting several days compared to around 2 to 3 hours with the standard VIP E Cig. However, the battery is heavier and longer than our E Cigarette. The powerful 1100 mAh Photon battery weighs 42g and measures 9cm in length.

The Photon Tank model is more suited to existing e cigarette users that intend to be long-term vapers.

    14. Why does the battery tip flash?

The battery tip flashing is a low power indicator. You will need to recharge the battery if the tip starts flashing.

    15. How do I know when my E Cig battery needs recharging?

The tip flashing is a low power warning which indicates the battery needs to be recharged.

The VIP E Cig battery can be recharged at any point of the usage cycle. If you can avoid fully discharging the battery repeatedly and recharge the battery before the tip blinks it will help to prolong it's lifespan.

    16. Why is my Clearomizer leaking?

Clearomizers are very reliable and leakproof by design if used correctly. The Clearomizer can leak under certain conditions:-

    • If the rubber sealing ring on the thread of mouthpiece has been lost
    • If placed in direct sunlight or in extreme heat ie) on the dashboard of a car or near a fire
    • If overfilled or incorrectly filled
    • If filled with a non VIP e liquid
    • If used excessively

    17. How often should I replace my Photon battery?

All lithium batteries degrade and performance will deteriorate in time. Aged batteries can become unstable and for safety reasons batteries should be replaced at 150 recharge cycles or within 4 months from receipt, whichever is the sooner. If you use a Photon battery beyond 4 months this is considered mis-use of the product, in breach of the manufacturer's guidelines and you do so at your own risk.

    18. How long does the Photon battery take to charge?

1100 mAh model: The larger 1100 mAh Photon battery takes a maximum of 4 hours to charge when using the required VIP USB charger. Do not leave the Photon battery on charge longer than 4 hours even if the indicator light on the USB charger does not turn green.

390 mAh mini model: The mini 390 mAh Photon battery takes a maximum of 2 hours to charge when using the required VIP USB charger. Do not leave the Photon battery on charge longer than 2 hours even if the indicator light on the USB charger does not turn green.

    19. How long does the Photon battery last between charges?

Performance will vary on a per user basis ranging from 1 to 6 days for the 1100 mAh model and up to 1 day for the 390 mAh mini model.

    20. Why does my Photon battery not charge?

The most common reason for the Photon battery failing to charge is e-liquid to be present on the battery thread. We recommend wiping the threads of the Photon battery, CE4 Clearomizer and USB charger with a tissue daily to remove any excess e-liquid build-up. If you do not regularly clean the battery thread, then the lifespan of the Photon battery will be significantly reduced.

    21. How often should I replace my batteries?

VIP's high quality batteries are built with lithium-ion technology and regular replacement of these items is recommended to maintain peak performance. We recommend you replace your batteries every 2-3 months which will ensure that you are getting the best performance out of your Cartomizers

    22. What is VIP E liquid?

VIP E liquid is intended for use by committed, long-term or excessive vapers who are ready to move on from using Cartomizers and take the next step with the Photon Tank. VIP E liquid is designed for use with our Photon Tank refillable electronic cigarette.

Our e liquid ingredients are regularly tested by an independent UKAS accredited laboratory by GC-MS methods to certify purity and consistenacy.

Warning: E liquid is not compatible with our standard VIP E Cig Cartomizer model and the use of e liquid will damage built-in protection and safe-circuitry of the battery rendering it unsafe.

    23. Why does VIP E liquid change colour?

VIP E liquid will change colour once opened, or exposed to light and air. This is perfectly natural and e liquid can go through many stages of colour changes ranging from yellow to brown, gradually darkening in time. Once opened we recommend e-liquid to be consumed within 30 days.

If your E liquid rapidly changes colour after refilling then your CE4 Clearomizer may need cleaning and may also have been contaminated by a foreign substance i.e.) food.

Inhaling excessively from the CE4 Clearomizer can also cause the e liquid to overheat and burn which will result in a dark brown, almost black coloured e liquid.

    24. How do I inhale from the Photon Tank?

Make sure the battery is activated by pressing the LED button 5 times. You must hold the LED button down while inhaling and release the button when your inhale is completed.

    We recommend:

Inhaling for a maximum of 8 seconds per inhale
Not inhaling excessively to prevent the liquid from overheating and burning
Allowing the clearomizer to cool for a few minutes after each vaping session and before refilling

    25. How do I fill the Clearomizer with e liquid?

Refilling instructions are provided with Photon Starter Kits and Clearomizers.

Please see below the different instructions on how to fill the V5 Clearomizer, CE5 BDC Clearomizer and ETS BDC Glassomizer:

    Clearomizer V5

    • Open the clearomizer box from the top by pulling up the lid, there are two clearomizers and instruction manual inside.
    • Please read the manual before using the product
    • Take out one of the clearomizers
    • Remove the plastic wrapper. Unscrew the metal base, by twisting it in anti- clockwise direction until it is fully separated from the plastic shaft.

Take a bottle of VIP E Liquid, only approved e liquids can be used please note liquids or substances that are not specifically approved for use by the manufacturer may result in damages to hardware or cause personal injury.

Remove the lid by slightly pressing down on the lid and turning it anti clockwise. Separate the lid from the bottle.

Take the plastic shaft part of the clearomizer, hold it so that the mouth piece is facing the floor.  Take the bottle of e liquid in the other hand. Hold the Clearomizer at a 45 degree angle, Insert the bottle nozzle inside the clearomizer, slightly press on the sides of the bottle and let the e liquid drip down the inside wall of the clearomizer. You need to be very careful not to get the e liquid inside the central air tube. Once the e liquid reaches the 0.8ml mark, stop pouring, hold the clearomizer straight, make sure not to overfill the e liquid over the stated mark.

Take the metallic base of the clearomizer, place it back on top of the plastic shaft by screwing it in clockwise direction until it cannot turn further easily. Make sure not to tighten the base too tight. Turn the clearomizer around and let it stand for 10 minutes, this ensures e liquid penetrates the coil. The last thing you have to do before using the clearomizer is priming it. To do this you need to inhale on the mouthpiece 5 times, this motion draws the e liquid into the wicks, ensuring the correct burning process of the e liquid. Let the clearomizer stand for further 5 minutes before use.

Please note if you are getting a strange metallic taste in your mouth when vaping, it is very likely that the clearomizer was not primed properly, according to the instruction. Never allow the e liquid level to drop too low to prevent damage which also causes a metallic taste.

Each of the clearomizers to be replaced after 10 days, every time a new clearomizer is opened it needs to be primed.

Please ensure that the clearomizer is fully cooled down before attempting to refill with e liquid and/or removing it from the battery.

The clearomizer is a consumable product and lifespan is subject to individual usage. A 24 hour DOA warranty applies to clearomizers. Any problems need to be reported within 24 hours of receipt.

    • WARNING: Avoid carrying in tight spaces, or in your pocket, handbag and letting the item fall as it could cause damage.

     CE5 Clearomizer

    • To fill up the Clearomizer unscrew the bottom metal base, turn it so that the mouth piece is facing the floor.
    • Hold the clearomizer at an angle and pour the liquid down the inside glass wall of the clearomizer. Ensure you don’t over fill the e liquid, stop when the liquid reaches just under the top of the inside of the metal cylinder tube.
    • Replace the metal base by screwing it back into place.
    • When screwing the base back on, keep the clearomizer straight so that the liquid does not go inside the metal tube.
    • Turn the clearomizer so that the mouth piece is facing up. Stand it up in that position for 5 to 6 minutes, to allow the coil to fully absorb the e liquid.
    • If you experience a burning taste the then the e liquid has not fully absorbed into the coil. Allow an extra few minutes for the e liquid to absorb.
    • Due to the fluctuations in the CE5 clearomizer, some vapour will re-condense into liquid in the mouthpiece. This is not a sign of leaking, please clean the mouthpiece and inside the drip tip with tissue regularly.  This can be done by pulling the black mouthpiece off. To replace it, simply push it back into place.

Please note the metal coil head attached to the base of the clearomizer will require replacement every 2 weeks. (This may vary depending on usage.)

    • WARNING: Avoid carrying in tight spaces, or in your pocket, handbag and letting the item fall as it could cause damage.
    • ETS Glassomizer
    • To fill the glassomizer unscrew the bottom metal base, turn it so that the mouthpiece is facing the floor.
    • Hold the glassomizer at an angle and pour the e liquid down the inside wall of the clearomizer. Ensure you don’t overfill the liquid, stop when the liquid reaches just below where the glass part of the glassomizer is visible.
    • Replace the metal base by screwing it back into place.
    • When screwing the base back on keep the ETS glassomizer straight so the liquid does not go inside the metal tube.
    • Turn the clearomizer so that the mouthpiece is facing up. Stand it up in that position for 5 to 6 minutes, to allow the coil to fully absorb the e liquid.
    • If you experience a burning taste then the e liquid has not fully absorbed into the coil. Allow an extra few minutes for the e liquid to absorb.
    • Due to the fluctuations in the ETS glassomizer, some vapour will re-condense into liquid in the mouthpiece. This is not a sign of leaking, please clean the mouthpiece with tissue regularly.

Please note the metal coil head attached to the base of the clearomizer will require replacement every 2 weeks. (This may vary depending on usage.)

    • WARNING: Avoid carrying in tight spaces, or in your pocket, handbag and letting the item fall as it could cause damage.

    Use VIP E liquid

    • Do not inject pure VG based e-liquids
    • Do not overfill the Clearomizer
    • Do not inject liquid inside the central air-intake hole
    • Ensure the rubber sealing ring is in place on the thread of the mouthpiece

    26. How to Change and Prime new coils?

    Changing the coil
To replace the coil head you will need to remove the original one from the bottom part of the Aspire Range Clearomizer. If there is e liquid inside the clearomizer already, before unscrewing the metal base, turn the clearomizer so that the mouth piece is facing the floor, leave it in this position for about 5 minutes to drain the excess e liquid from the bottom metallic part.

When the e liquid is drained, carefully separate the metal base by screwing it in anti-clockwise direction. Wipe off any excess E liquid from the metal base using a dry tissue, avoid contact with skin, use gloves where possible. Leave the main part of the cleromizer in the standing position to prevent the liquid from spilling. When completely dry, unscrew the metal coil from the metal base in anticlockwise direction. Take the new coil and screw it back on into the exactly the same place in clockwise direction until you can’t turn it any further easily. Ensure not to tighten it too tight as it will be difficult to separate it.

Each of the Coils needs to be replaced after 7-10 days depending on frequency of use, every time a new coil is replaced it needs to be primed. Please ensure that the Cleromizer is fully cooled down before attempting to refill with e liquid and/or removing it from the battery.

    Priming New Coils
After you connected the coil in the correct position.
Take the cylinder part of the clearomizer which holds e liquid, hold it so that the mouth piece is facing the floor at a 45 degree angle.
Insert e liquid bottle nozzle inside the clearomizer, slightly press on the sides of the bottle and let the e liquid drip down the inside the outer wall of the clearomizer.

You need to be very careful not to get the e liquid inside the central air tube. Stop once the e liquid fills the cylinder 3/4 full. Take the lower part of the clearomizer screw it back on in clockwise direction until it cannot turn further easily. Make sure not to tighten the base too tight or fill the e liquid over the stated mark.

To prime the clearomizer let it stand for 10 to 15 minutes after filling it with e liquid, this will ensure the e liquid penetrates the coil. Connect the clearomizer to a battery and dry vape 3 to 4 times (inhale without pressing the battery button). The clearomizer is now ready to use.

    27. Why does my battery not charge?

Check that the threads of the battery and USB charger are clean. Fluff or a buildup of dirt on the threads will prevent a proper connection and may also damage battery cells. We advise that you regularly clean the battery thread by wiping it with a tissue.

If a VIP E-Cig battery is stored in a fully discharged state it will fail to recharge. Storing or placing a VIP E-Cig battery next to magnetised objects such as keys or sat navs, e-readers and mobile phones may damage the battery cells. If the battery fails to charge, you will need to order a spare battery.

Batteries are consumable and approx. lifespan is around 2-3 months subject to user care. If your battery is more than a couple of months old it may need replacing.

    28. Can you provide any battery safety information?

The VIP E-Cig has safe-circuitry and overcharge protection built-in. However, storing your battery or using your battery incorrectly may damage the incorporated safety features.

    29. Is the VIP E Cigarette regulated?

Yes! There is a lot of misinformation on the internet and in the press claiming that e cigs are not regulated, but the term 'not regulated' is very misleading and grossly inaccurate. Sales of electronic cigarettes are covered by the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD) and general consumer protection laws. The VIP E Cig is regulated by several government bodies including CHIP, COSHH, NMO and Trading Standards. Products are inspected, tested and analysed for possible toxicity and dangerous contaminants. E cigarettes are regulated in the UK.

The VIP E Cig is not regulated as a medicine because the device is not a pharmaceutical product and therefore cannot be regulated by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Caffeine is another example of a product and drug that does not require to be regulated as a medicine.

    30. What are the ingredients?

UKAS accredited laboratories conduct testing for VIP and hundreds of other similar tests have been carried out within the industry, as well as independent government testing. The multitude of tests demonstrates precisely what is in the liquid ingredients:

    • Propylene Glycol (PG) CAS 57-55-6
    • Vegetable Glycerine (VG or ‘Glycerol’) CAS 56-81-5
    • Nicotine CAS 54-11-5
    • Food-standard flavourings

    31. What is propylene glycol?

Commonly referred to as PG and sometimes listed as 'propane-1,2-diol' in research articles, is an odourless, colourless and slightly sweet organic binding agent. Over 70 years of research has been conducted on PG proving that it is safe for human inhalation over long periods of time and the reason PG is used as the base compound for asthma inhalers. Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Gycerine have been classified as GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) and do not represent a cancer hazard. PG attracts moisture which can lead to the drying of the throat and causes it to feel sore. This usually passes after a couple of days and drinking more fluid may help relieve the symptoms. If you are allergic to PG we recommend that you seek the advice of your GP before purchasing or using the VIP E-Cig.

    32. Why is the VIP E Cigarette better than other brands?

We have been at forefront of the e-cigarette market since 2009, helping replace over 300 million tobacco cigarettes with the VIP E Cigarette.

VIP's aim was to provide a suitable long-term smoking alternative which could offer the similar sensation and taste of a regular cigarette without the nasty side effects. Extensive research and feedback obtained from cigarette smokers was used to assist in the development of VIP Electronic Cigarette.

The VIP E Cigarette starter range is an alternative designed by smokers to meet the needs of smokers which offers a higher volume of vapour and smoother taste compared to other brands. VIP's exceptional ingredients and flavourings are exclusively blended for the VIP brand. Only a handful of 'companies' have the capability to produce 'exclusive' brand flavours. Most e cigarette suppliers are 'home-run' ventures or small scale businesses that import crudely flavoured, generic products of low quality from the cheapest source. Considering you are inhaling vapour into your body every day it pays to go with the best company where quality and your safety are concerned.

VIP is a member of ECITA (Electronic Cigarette Trade Association) and rules of membership ensure high quality standards and require that ingredients are regularly tested by an independent UKAS accredited laboratory by GC-MS methods to certify purity and consistency.

    33. What ingredients are in VIP E Cigarette Cartomizers?

VIP E Cig refills contain nicotine, propylene glycol (an ingredient found in many health products, medicines, foods and drinks), vegetable glycerine (found in many food products) and common flavourings. Flavourings may contain traces of nuts.

    34. How long does the battery last between charges?

Battery charge life varies depending on usage. A fully charged VIP E Cigarette battery should last around 2 hours in constant use.
