Facts About Vaping & Smoking Related Disease

We all know it is true that millions of long-term smokers have developed diseases that have caused them to die early. At any one time when there are 20 smokers suffering from a smoking related disease, one person has died as a result of smoking. However, it is understood that these diseases and deaths are caused almost exclusively by inhaling smoke and not from the tobacco or nicotine themselves. Vaping products , commonly referred to as electronic cigarettes or e cigarettes, do not burn tobacco or do not combust , and so do not produce the smoke that causes smoking related diseases. Ireland to Develop Nicotine Addiction Guidelines

In an article published last week on the Irish Medical Times, Consultant in Public Health Medicine and Adviser to the HSE Tobacco Free Ireland Programme, Dr. Paul Kavanagh said that HIQA’s next step is to begin working on devising new guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of  nicotine  addiction. This is in continuation to the publication of the organisation’s final health technology assessment (HTA) report about the  increased use of e cigarettes aiding smokers to quit.
