VIP Welcomes E-Cigarette Regulation - Morning Edition, January 2014

January 28, 2014 E-Cig News

For anyone who was tuned in to RTÉ One this morning will have seen our Director, Joe Dunne, feature on Morning Edition alongside the Irish Cancer Association’s Kathleen O’Meara discussing e-cigarette regulation.

According to Kathleen O’Meara, in her eyes e-cigarettes are safer than conventional cigarettes  as they do not contain the tar and toxins BUT we don’t know the long-term effects of them as they have only been on the market a couple of years.

Joe spoke about how VIP welcomes regulation of e-cigarettes, and would call for an independent body to be established to check the standards of e-liquid and devices.

Joe also spoke about how e-cigarettes give smokers another option. Previously, smokers were faced with the choice to “quit or die”.

There were also concerns over teenagers smoking electronic cigarettes, but as stated in a previous blog post, here at VIP we do NOT sell to under 18s.

If you missed the feature, you can catch it on the RTÉ player, and skip to the 46 minute mark.
