What's Your New Year’s Resolutions?

January 1, 2014 E-Cig News

We love New Year’s Resolutions here at VIP e-cigarettes. Self improvement is a wonderful thing, and it’s encouraging to see so many people making an honest effort at a fresh start every January. Even if it doesn’t last the whole 12 months, good habits and good intentions improve and lengthen lives.

There’s good news and bad news when it comes to New Year’s Resolutions. The bad news is that they’re often broken, but the good news is that when you quit conventional smoking (and we believe it’s a “when” not an “if”), other good habits will follow.

According to the Independent, the most popular resolutions people took up at the start of 2013 were…

1-      Save more money

2-      Get out of debt

3-      Get fit

4-      Change job

5-      Quit smoking

6-      Quit alcohol

7-      Work less

8-      Spend more time with family/friends

9-      Give up chocolate

10-   Move house

Old-fashioned smoking is always somewhere on a New Year’s Resolution list, even though conventional smoking is on the decline in this country. This suggests that even when less people are sucking in the smoke, attempts to give it up remain somewhat constant.

But back to our earlier point:  Many of those habits on the top ten are smoking related and we believe that quitting smoking can nurture other good habits. For example…

Save more Money and Get out of Debt

This is an obvious one. With VIP Cigarettes roughly one-fifth the cost of burning through paper, leaf and chemical smokes one-by-one, there’s an obvious benefit to your wallet. After switching to vaping and VIP Cigarettes, try putting €5 aside every time you would’ve bought a packet of smoky cigarettes. That’s nearly half the cost of a pack. Saving €15 a week would leave you with €780 at the end of a year to spend on Christmas shopping, a holiday, or knocking a big fat chunk out of your credit card debt.

Get Fit

Many former smokers (including this writer) become more active after they bin the cigarettes. Within a few days of quitting smoking you’ll feel better in general, a couple of weeks after that you’ll breathe better and have more energy. After that, it won’t be so daunting to join a gym or take up running. We recommend running with a friend, or a good running app.

Spend more time with family and friends

This is a delicate subject, but it’s always worth mentioning: Conventional smoking can take 10-15 years off your life. That’s 10-15 years more you could spend laughing with friends, holding your children, spending time with your partner. A key motivation to maintain a healthy lifestyle is thinking of loved ones. We also think that quitting old-fashioned smokes will improve the quality of time you spend with these people – you’ll be more active, healthier and happier.

One good habit can cause a beautiful chain reaction. That can start with binning your smokes and vaping instead. Best of luck with your resolutions – and let us know what they are!
